Elon Musk has often accused OpenAI’s ChatGPT of being ‘too woke’ and never really shies away from criticising the AI chatbot. So when Musk’s own chatbot, GrokAI, came to town, comparisons started happening. A Twitter (now called X) user took to the platform and compared Grok with ChatGPT, saying that the former is also as “woke” as the latter. Responding to the user, Musk said that the internet on which GrokAI has been trained is “woke” and that he promises that the chatbot will get better with time.
The billionaire also added that as of now, GrokAI is still in its beta stage. “Unfortunately, the Internet (on which it is trained), is overrun with woke nonsense. Grok will get better. This is just the beta,” he wrote.
GrokAI was launched recently and X Premium subscribers have access to the AI chatbot. Earlier this month, Musk announced that GrokAI is now being made available to users with the new app update.
Musk wrote, “Grok is rolling out to X Premium+ subscribers with the latest app release. Have fun.”
Musk also reshared a post by X which stated that access to GrokAI has started rolling out to X Premium subscribers and the process will be completed by next week. The tweet also mentioned that the longer that a user has been a subscriber, the sooner they can get access to Grok AI.
“You can find Grok in the side menu on web, iOS, and Android (app must be up to date). On iOS & Android, you can add it to your bottom menu for easy access,” the tweet mentioned.
Grok AI was announced last month and was introduced as an AI assistant that will answer questions with “wit and also has a rebellious streak.” The XAI team wrote in a tweet that “those who lack a sense of humour shouldn’t use GrokAI.”
The team’s post read, “Grok is an AI modelled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask. Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you hate humor.”
The team then added that Grok will have real-time knowledge of the world due to X. This could mean that the AI system will derive its knowledge from the users’ publicly available Twitter posts.
In addition to this, the AI system will also “answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems.”
The product is still in beta stage and has been trained for just 2 months. The xAI team added that it will improve “rapidly with each passing week with your help.”
