Think aromatic Kahwa tea, rich Shufta loaded with dry fruits, and the heavenly Phirni! These treats are like a flavour explosion, combining saffron, nuts, and other local goodies to create something special. Now, a food enthusiast, who visited Kashmir recently, has shared a video from a local sweet shop in Srinagar. The vlogger came across a sweet treat that looked like it was drenched in sugar syrup coating and curiously asked the vendor what it was, to which he responded as “busrakha,” also spelled as “basrakh,” and elaborated that it’s made from maida (flour).
Next, the vendor introduced some other Kashmiri snacks, namely “shangram” and “khajura”, also made from flour. The vendor then showed some pink and white bhujia look-alikes, calling them “murmura,” revealing that they are whipped up from a mix of sugar and carrots.
Moving on, the vlogger showcased an array of goodies available at the store, including peanuts, green peas, kabuli chana, Kashmiri muth, makai, and a tantalising glimpse of shelves filled with tins and tins of these nuts and mixtures.
Next up, the vendor displayed “white shirni,” a special treat often offered as prasad in temples. He also had a dry fruit mixture, complete with dry coconuts and shirni in his store. The vlogger then gave us a peek at some mouthwatering pethas. With his exploration complete, the vlogger thanked the vendor for his time and left the store.
